The moon and the sun that had once parleyed,
Of Christ’s sun and moon of star above.
Neither did the sun nor the moon had barely
Noticed that the sun and moon were thought to shove
The thought of futile thought and to vie
Of who to be Christ’s sun and moon or star on high.
Now nigh, now nigh! The sun or moon or star to comply
The trifle truffle game of who to clear the blue-blanket sky
On night savior born and turpitude to die.
In pointe to fulfill,
The sun did until
Time drove him to sea.
Then star got the job from high to till
The soil that asked for plea.
And shone like the moon
That flickered in Angel’s tune,
Abiding the Savior’s night
And shone as angels flew on flight:
“Hail the Savior to be born,
Hail the Angels, Sin be scorn.
Love like his the Etesian Wind!
Wind that comforts us untrimmed!”
Mercy did the sun undergo
To spend First Christmas alone.
To walk the laid sky to and fro, to and fro
Until day after Christmas he shone.
Continued awaiting dawn
Until time moved on,
And hair grew white,
And moon and sun, and sun and moon to fight.
Then in inane frenzy, the sun WENT into a fury,
And shone until golden sand went crisp,
And continued his rain till to be had not not sorry
Until every Christ to be born a wisp during day.
